In Mérida’s historic centre, an old house was renovated and a second casita was built at the back of the lot. A planted patio sits between the two, so the garden is felt from every room.
The palette takes its cue from Tulum — earth-toned plaster, timber louvers and local stone. The new casita is crowned by a barrel vault instead of a flat roof, and the bedroom beneath it opens through a single arched window onto the green.
